IN THE BEGINNING
It's winter in The Macedon Ranges, and about as cold as it gets. I am not going to look at the thermometer. The yoga classes have fallen off somewhat as clients zip off to Europe or anywhere that is warmer.
For a long time now I have been exploring HEMP (yes, it is in the family "cannabis", but it is Cannabis Sativa, and not Cannabis Indica which is the one you may remember from the 1960's. Indica is the Cannabis bad cousin - although I believe Queen Victoria had a bottle of Cannabis Indica Tincture on her bedside table (Cannabis Indica - not Sativa), and not just to look at. I guess if I had married a domineering husband, had to control a parliament of entitled Lords and Commoners, as well as a huge household of servants.... and nine children, I probably would have needed something to calm me down too.
I started out with the hemp seed oil, then trialled hemp seed, and after that the hemp powder. Giving each product from various producers and importers a chance to work. I also purchased some UNHULLED hemp seed which are much higher in fibre, closer to the "source" and very oily when you grind them up. I use these in Dips and Dukkha.
Every brand will have its own features, but I settled on the Australian company ROYAL HEMP for its quality and the very informative labels on the products, which is very important when you are starting out with new products. The oil is deep and green and reminds me of a very high quality olive oil, the seeds are creamy, but not bland, and the powder has a definite but not overpowering taste. It is available in different flavours, but I liked plain. All products I use every meal, every day, and I do it because I can feel the difference.

I have written a cookery book I have called "Jahne's KANNABIS KITCHEN" which you can get on www.myyogabooks.etsy.com. As with most of my books, I keep adding to them so you can get version 1, the version 2 etc etc. The more I learn, the more you learn.
I will be whipping up the recipes in that booklet, and hoping that you can join me. Hope you like the logo. It incorporates our yoga logo, into a hemp design.
